The year was 2005 and the song Love me appeared on TV. The public was amazed... A great love song that became quickly number 1 in all the charts. The artist … Morandi.
But who was this singer, no one knew. Although the song was a hit, no one took credit for it. A few months later the secret was finally revealed: Morandi was a project initiated by Marius Moga - one of Romania’s best composers and producers, together with Andrei Ropocea who’s nickname is Randy.
From an young age Randy had only one passion: music. He studied piano and spent all his free time singing and practicing. At age 21 he started working with Marius Moga and his career as a musician begun.
The song Love me is released from the album Reverse.The album is a unique blend of sounds and styles, something brand new that was missing from the Romanian music scene. Love me won Best Dance” at MTV Romania music awards in 2005, and was nominated for Best new act and Best song.
The second song released from the album was Bejo. It reached no.1 on MTV Europe and World Chart Express overtaking U2, Coldplay and Shakira. In Europe the album Reverse sold over 2 million copies.
In 2006 the second album Mind Fields was fresh out of the studio. A complete and complex album, containing 20 tracks, a record for the Romanian music industry at that time. The first single of the album, Falling asleep was no 1 in Romanian top 100, and won Best Video at Romanian Music Awards 2006.
The following year the album Next was the biggest success yet. the song Angels was no 1 in Russian top 100 for 8 weeks, and 24 weeks in top 10. Morandi were awarded the gold disk in Romania, Slovakia, Czech Republic and 5 times platinum in Russia. Angels had over 10 million hits on youtube.com.
After touring the world, Morandi returned to the studio and recorded the album Zebra, released in 2009. Although the zebra has only two colours, the songs are a rainbow. Different styles, sounds and flavours. The first release is called of course Colours, and three more videos followed: Rock the world, Midnight train and Serenada.
The unique talent and creativity of Randy and Marius are present in every production, every song and every sound. Their popularity grows with each album and the fans keep coming back for more.
